Xaara Novack Pentru că postarea mea cu plantarea unui mango este printre cele mai populare, m-am gândit că ar fi util să vorbesc și despre cum se plantează un avocado. Este un proces extrem de simplu și extrem de gustos, desigur.
Ce vă trebuie pentru a planta un avocado:
· un avocado, sau doi – trei. ar fi indicat să plantați măcar doi ca să fiți siguri că măcar unul dintre ei va prinde rădăcini
· un pahar transparent
· scobitori – cel puțin patru scobitori
· apă
Cum recunoașteți un avocado bun?
· are o formă plăcută, fără zone mult prea tari sau moi, adâncituri sau alte lovituri
· este moale, adică s-a copt suficient cât să fie gata de preparare
· nu are părți prea întunecare sau prea decolorate, are o culoare plăcut uniformă
Acum că am stabilit aceste criterii, va trebui să pregătiți avocado pentru două lucruri: mâncat și plantat.
La mâncat nu ne băgăm acum, așa că trecem direct la subiect.
Se taie pe jumătate de-a lungul și se scoate cu atenție sâmburele din mijloc. De preferință cu o lingură mare. Dacă s-a copt bine și interiorul este moale, sâmburele va fi foarte ușor de extras.
Imediat ce ați scos sâmburele vă folosiți de scobitori pentru a-l aranja cât să fie în pahar dar să nu stea cufundat în apă. După ce l-ați așezat bine cât și ați turnat apa deasupra, acesta va trebui să fie măcar pe jumătate cufundat în paharul cu apă.
Acum urmează așteptarea. După mai multe săptămâni, poate chiar luni depinde de perioada în care îl plantați, sâmburele va trebui să dea semne că va crăpa.
Imediat ce vedeți această schimbare, trebuie să-i curățați coaja de deasupra. Îl veți ajuta astfel să prindă rădăcini cât mai repede, pentru că în interior acestea sunt deja formate.
Sâmburele va crăpa și dinăuntru va începe treptat să crească tulpina copăcelului de avocado. Este un proces extrem de lent așa că înarmați-vă cu răbdare. Avocado în general are nevoie de căldură, așa că în perioade friguroase, ca acum, îl puteți ține lângă calorifer sau chiar pe calorifer. Doar să-l udați des, imediat ce observați că nu mai are apă.
Atunci când a crescut mărișor și vedeți că are frunzulițe și o tulpină mai puternică, îl puteți planta într-un ghiveci cu pământ. Atenție doar ca sâmburele să nu fie total acoperit de pământ!
Practic în pământ îngropați rădăcinile și doar un sfert din sâmbure. Restul lăsați în afară pentru a crește în continuare. Repet, este un proces destul de lent, nu va crește în patru săptămâni!
Veți avea un avocado mititel într-un an. Trebuie ținut tot timpul la căldură, deci vara și primăvara veți avea o plantă foarte fericită.

Since my DIY post on planting a mango was very popular, I thought it would be useful to write about planting an avocado. It’s a very simple and tasty method, of course.
Things you need for planting an avocado:
- an avocado, two or three. would be advised to try with more, just to be sure at least one will catch roots
- a transparent glass
- toothpicks
- water
How to recognize a good avocado:
- it has a nice shape, without having too hard or too soft sides, bumps or holes
- it’s soft, meaning it’s ripe enough and ready to eat
- it doesn’t have to be too dark or any discolorations, it should have a nice uniform color
Now that we have all of our criteria checked, let’s get onto the subject.
You cut the avocado in half, on the longer side and get the seed out carefully. Preferably using a big spoon. If it is ripe enough and the interior is soft, the seed will come out very easily.
As soon as you get the seed out, use toothpicks to secure it in the glass. Make it so it will sit inside, but leave part of the seed outside too. Part of the avocado seed needs to be immersed in water.
Now you’re gonna have to wait. It takes a lot of weeks, maybe month, depending on the season that you’re doing this, but the seed will eventually start cracking.
Seeing this change, you need to start cleaning the shell of the seed. This way you can help it make roots faster, because on the inside of the seed, they already started to form.
The seed will eventually crack open and from the inside, the stem will start growing. It’s a slow process, so have patience. Avocados generally need a lot of heat, so during colder month, like now, keep it next to a radiator. Don’t forget to give it water regularly, as soon as you notice it getting dry.
When it will start growing a bit bigger and small tiny leaves appear and the stem gets stronger, you can plant it in a pot, using ground. Be careful with the seed again! It doesn’t need to be covered in sad totally. Leave the part with the stem on the outside and burry a part inside the ground.
Practically, in the ground you cover only the roots, like a third of our seed. The rest will be on the outside, to continue to grow. I have to repeat this, but it is a slow process. You won’t have your own avocado tree in four weeks only!
You will have a tiny little avocado in at least one year. It needs to be kept inside, to have sun and heat. So in the summer and spring, it will be a very happy plant.
